Will China’s strategic oil inventories for Q3 2026 be above 1,500 million barrels?

If the U.S. Energy Information Administration estimates that China’s strategic oil inventories for Q3 2026 were above 1,500 million barrels, then the market resolves to Yes. The Underlying is the China value for Q3 2026 in Table 1, “Estimated Strategic Oil Inventories for Select Countries,” in EIA’s Global Energy Security Data. For this estimate, EIA includes both government-held and commercial inventories in China’s strategic oil inventories. The first value published by EIA for Q3 2026 will be used. Subsequent revisions will not affect resolution.
